Tommie Lee Jeter Obituary

Tommie Lee Jeter, 85, Hamlet, NC entered eternal sunset March 26, 2026.  Tommie was born December 25, 1940, to the late Robert Zeb Jeter and the late Leatha Booker Jeter in Union County, South Carolina.  He later made his home in Hamlet, NC and began work at Arlo's Service Station in 1969, working his entire career there until retirement in 2001.  Tommie enjoyed baseball and especially watching his favorite team, the Los Angeles Dodgers.  He always enjoyed working on cars, watching westerns, listening to oldies on the radio and going to church.


Tommie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gloria Jean Jeter; a son, Ernest C. Malachi; brothers, James Thomas Jeter, Clarence Lee Jeter, Randolph Jeter, Robert Earl Jeter and Willie C. Jeter; sisters, Lois Bell Walker, Annie Mae Jeter and Helen Jeter; and a grandson Todd Malachi.


Tommie is survived by his daughters, Gloria Garrison (Dennis) of Hamlet, NC; Minister Susan Lewis (Ronnie) of Cheraw, SC; and son Fred Malachi (Linda) of Fayetteville, NC; Grandchildren, Toria Malachi, Justin Lee Malachi (Taneshia), Shanda Malachi and Kesha Malachi; numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; and a special goddaughter, Arlinda Billingsley (Ernie).


Public viewing will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 9am until 2pm at Nelson Funeral Home, 1021 E. Washington Street, Rockingham, NC  28379. Service will follow in the Chapel at 3pm with his daughter, Minister Susan Lewis officiating.  Burial will follow service at Mary Love Cemetery in Hamlet, NC.
