Steve G. Scott, 72, Hamlet, NC, passed on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.  Funeral service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Nelson Funeral Home, 1021 E. Washington Street, Rockingham, NC.

Public viewing, Friday, November 28, 2025, 12pm until 5pm at Nelson Funeral Home, 1021 E. Washington Street, Rockingham, NC  28379.

The family will receive friends and visitors at 116 Minturn Ave., Hamlet, NC  28345.

Obituary

Mr. Steve Garrett Scott (Stevie G) was born August 13, 1953, in Fairmont, North Carolina.  He was the son of the late Eddie Lee Scott and Elreta Marie McKnight Scott. Steve attended the schools of Richmond County. He worked at Perdue of Rockingham for 44 years until his retirement in 2015.

Steve was an avid sports fan.  He loved football and baseball.  However, basketball was truly his favorite.  He was also a very talented basketball player in his younger days.  He would always demonstrate his skills and give tips to his younger siblings, nephews and nieces on how to handle that ball!  Steve also loved fishing.  He spent his leisure time enjoying fishing with his family and friends until his health failed.

Steve was married to Robin Bowman Scott who preceded him in death.  He was dedicated loving husband and always put his family first.  They had no children of their own. Nevertheless, they were instrumental in raising four children of which were three nephews Charles, Johnathan, and Abdulah Bowman and one niece Shakeema Bowman.  Steve was one of the favorites among uncles.  All the nieces and nephews loved him dearly.  He kept them smiling and laughing.

He leaves to cherish his memories:  three sisters, Loretta Scott Goodwin of Hamlet, NC; Diane Scott Boyd (Charles) of Laurinburg, NC; and Judy Scott of Pennsauken, NJ; five brothers:  Charles V. Scott and James Christopher Scott of NJ, Vincent A. Scott and Darren K. Scott of Hamlet, NC and Clayvon D. Scott of Nashville, TN; nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

Steve was a loving, kind person who treated everyone with respect.  He loved to sing, dance and was always an uplifting person to be around.  He will be missed by all who knew him.
