Retha Mae Wallace Gooch

Retha Mae Wallace Gooch, 80 of Cleveland County formerly of Richmond County passed on Tuesday, December 14, 2021.  A Memorial Service to honor the life of Ms. Gooch will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 12 noon in the Chapel at Nelson Funeral Home, 1021 E. Washington Street, Rockingham, NC.

Retha Mae Wallace Gooch was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday December 14, 2021. Born to the late Lee and Retha Wallace March 20, 1941, in Rockingham, North Carolina. While there she attended Rockingham Senior High School Graduating in 1960. Soon after finishing school she moved to Washington, DC.

This is where she met and married George William Gooch. From that union Dennis A Gooch, Sidney L Gooch were born.

Retha worked for Olympus Condominium Association for 10 Years then deciding she wanted to stay home and spend more time with her children. She loved children, helping take care of so many over the years. She really enjoyed her grandchildren calling them on the phone and talking to them, making sure they always got gifts for Christmas and their birthdays.

Retha had a special personality she loved to laugh and tell stories about her growing up in Rockingham, NC.

Retha was a COWBOYS fan for 45 years she also loved sports and enjoyed watching Basketball.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children Dennis A Gooch of Shelby, NC and Sidney L Gooch (Shalita) of Charlotte, NC. Her grandchildren; Dalecia, Keyshaun, Sania, Iyonna , Sidney Jr. Sisters Bertha (Deceased), Ethel, Evelyn(Deceased), Peggy(Deceased), Brothers Robert(deceased), Walter(deceased), Johnny(deceased), Thomas(deceased), Earl, Fred(deceased), Sister-in-law, Luvadah Wallace of Charlotte, NC; and many other relatives and friends.
