Norvie Townsend, 84, Wadesboro, NC passed on Saturday, April 6, 2024.  Funeral will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Galilee AME Zion Church, 310 Galilee Road, McFarlan, NC. Public Viewing, Saturday, April 13, 2024, 1:00pm until 5:00pm at Knotts and Wade Chapel, 7940 US Highway 52 S, Morven, NC, 28119.  Nelson Funeral Service is serving the family.

 

Obituary

Norvie “Bubba” Townsend was born to the late Charlie and

Rena Townsend on December 20, 1939, in Chesterfield

County, South Carolina and departed this life on Saturday,

April 6, 2024, at Wadesboro Health and Rehabilitation Center

in Wadesboro NC.

He was united in marriage to Annie Rachel Townsend on

September 6, 1962, in Chesterfield, SC. They were married for

62 years.

Norvie attended the Chesterfield County Schools. He was

employed by Hornwood Manufacturing in Wadesboro, NC

and Kenville Manufacturing in Lilesville, NC.

Norvie confessed and gave his life to Christ at an early age.

He joined Mt. Zion United Methodist Church of Cheraw,

South Carolina.

In addition to his parents, Norvie was preceded in death by

his wife, Annie Rachael, two sons, five brothers and four

sisters.

Norvie leaves to cherish his memories, one son, Efrem

Zimbalist (Connie) Townsend of Cheraw, South Carolina, one

daughter, Ann Townsend of High Point, North Carolina, four

grandchildren, Diandra Denise Townsend of Midland, NC,

Kasheena Rachelle (David) Carter of Charlotte, NC, Efrem

Zimbalist “Zach” Townsend, II of Cheraw, SC, and three great

grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
