Obituary
Ms. Helen Marie Stanback, 66, passed on Sunday, September 27, 2020. A Private Graveside Service will be Monday, October 5, 2020 at 11 am at Holy Grove Baptist Church. A Pubic Viewing will be Sunday, October 4, 2020 from 12- 4pm at Nelson Funeral Home, 1021 E. Washington St, NC 28379.
In accordance with the divine will of our Heavenly Father, Ms. Helen M. Stanback, the daughter of the late Johnny "Chester" Stanback and Irene W. Stanback was born on January 7, 1954. She exited this life and entered into eternity on September 27, 2020 at 1:03 a.m.
Helen was educated in the Richmond County School System, and attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University in Greensboro, NC where she majored in Nursing. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at a very young age, and was an active member of the Prayer and Faith Temple COGIC for many years becoming a member of Holly Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
She was employed with Burlington Industries in Rockingham, and retired after 30 years of service in the Texturing Department.
Helen enjoyed family gatherings and traveling with her daughters and grandchildren. She was also a great cook, known around town for her very special "potato salad". Another favorite pastime was watching movies on Lifetime; and was always readily available if you needed a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Johnny " Chester" Stanback and Irene W. Stanback; her brother Fletcher Dockery; sister Mae Grace Parker; and her nephew Eric Diggs.
She is survived by: two daughters, Keffney S. Harvin (Shawn) of Greensboro, NC and Aja Stanback of Burlington, NC; a very special friend Ronald Smith of Rockingham, NC; three grandchildren, Shawnell, Kalaeya, and Jonquil "Tecia", and one great grandchild, all of Greensboro, NC; three brothers, Willie Dockery (Eva) of Jackson Springs, NC, Arthur Stanback (Margaret) of Durham, NC and Billy Stanback of Rockingham, NC four sisters, Sadie Spence, Shirley Ingram, and Debra Streater (Larry) of Rockingham, NC and Sally Stanback of Siler City, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
