Mrs. Mattie Dixon Spencer, 106, loving known by her granddaughter as "Granny" was born on January 25, 1914 in "Pee Dee", Anson County, North Carolina to the late Harvey and Annie Spencer Dixon.

At an early age, Mother Mattie committed her life to the service of God and others.  A member of Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Lilesville, she served faithfully.  This amazing family woman we so affectionately knew was truly a loving mother to many, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, a loyal sister, a devoted sister/sister-in-law, a loving aunt and an awesome woman of God and friend to all.  born first, she stayed home and took care of all her brothers and sisters.  Mother Mattie's warm contagious smile and strong embrace welcomed you in and allowed you to feel the love/joy she carried in her heart for everyone.

United in matrimony to Mr. George Spencer, six children were born to this union.  Mother Mattie's unconditional love for her husband, family, extended family and everyone she came in contact with was obvious in her daily walk with the Lord.

On Monday, October 5, 2020 God sent His angels to embrace one of the greatest women to ever grace this Earthly planet and to softly whisper in her ear "Peace, Be Still" Welcome home.  You are truly worthy of dwelling in the Kingdom of God.  Your mansion and crown awaits you.

Preceding her in death were:  two children, George Spencer, Jr. and Marshall Lee Spencer; her mother and father, Harvey and Annie Spencer Dixon; her brothers and sisters, Mary Whitehead, Handy Dixon, Roy Dixon, Sr. Annie Jane Young, Julius C. Dixon.

Mother Mattie leaves to cherish her fond memories and celebrate her home going:  children, Andrew Spencer, Lily Ann Carol Spence, Mitchell Spencer, Minnie Spencer, Lilesville, NC; grandchildren, Barbara Ann Thomas (Weaver), Marshall Lee Spencer, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth M. Henry (Roderick), RaShaunda D.
