Mrs. Martheia Covington Fairley, 57, of Rockingham, passed Sunday, September 6, 2020. Funeral Service will be Friday, September 11, 2020 1pm at The Citadel of Deliverance Temple, 108 Midway Road in Rockingham, NC. burial to follow in the Philadelphia UMC Church Cemetery. A Public Viewing will be Thursday, September 10, 2020 12-4pm at Nelson Funeral Home, 1021 E. Washington St. Rockingham. In accordance with COVID-19 mask are required and social distancing is encouraged.
MARTHEIA "MOT" COVINGTON FAIRLEY, aged 57, was called home Sunday, September 6, 2020. she was born July 7, 1963 to the late Janie Louise Covington.
Martheia attended Miracle Valley Deliverance Citadel where she confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 14. she continued her membership as a faithful member of what is now Citadel of Deliverance Temple. There she served as Armor Bearer to Pastor Lizzie Jackson as well as a list of other things. Martheia didn't mind stepping in and serving where she needed to . She attended Richmond Senior High School (1981) and Garner Webb University (1997). She worked in the mental health field for 23 years and Wal-Mart for eight years.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Janie Covington and her brother, Dennis Earl Covington.
Martheia is survived by: her husband, James Fairley of Rockingham, NC; her daughter, Sharonda "Patrice" Fairley of Winston-Salem, NC; her sister, Gloria Torres (Ishmael) of Raleigh, NC five brothers, Williams Covington (Gwen) and Melvin Covington (Judy), both of Rockingham, NC, Ronald Covington of Hamlet, NC Herman Covington of Pageland, SC, and Danny Cotman (Sharee) of New Haven, CT; two aunts, Flora Morman and Mary Green, both of Rockingham, NC; eighteen nieces and nephews; twenty-three great-nieces and great-nephews; two close friends that she considered sisters, Michelle Peterson of Atlanta, GA and Ramonda Anderson of Hamlet, NC; and a host of family and friends.
Martheia touched the lives of so many people. She will truly be missed.
