Lorrie Mack, 92, Hamlet, passed on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. Funeral will be Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 11am in the Chapel at Nelson Funeral Home, 1021 E. Washington St. Rockingham, NC. Public Viewing Friday, March 19, 2021, 1-6pm at the Funeral Home.

Obituary
Lorrie Smart Mack was born January 18, 1929 to the late Robert
Lee Smart, Sr. and Annie Milton Smart. She was born in
Hampton, County, SC as the second of three children blessed by
this union. Our Heavenly Father saw fit to call her from labor to
reward on March 16, 2021 at Moore County Regional Hospital.
Lorrie confessed Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at an early age,
attending Goodwill Baptist Church, Estill, SC. She remained a
loyal servant and later became a faithful member of Shiloh
Baptist Church, Bennettsville, SC. In her service to God and her
church, Lorrie served in various capacities, namely: she sang on
the Senior Choir, Inspirational Choir, Gospel Choir, Mass Choir
and the Ministerial Alliance Choir of Bennettsville, SC. She was
a member of the Pulpit-Aid-Club, Willing Workers Club, a
Sunday School teacher, was very active for years with the
Hamlet Senior Society, the Allendale County African American
Cultural Center, the O.E.S. Fidelity Chapter #40 of Allendale, the
Richmond County Branch of N.A.A.C.P., the Marlboro County
Teachers Association, and the South Carolina and National
Education Association.
She attended Claflin University in Orangeburg, SC, earning a
degree in Elementary and Music Education. Lorrie had an
extensive career in education that spanned over 40 years as a
public school teacher and ending at Richmond Community
College. Her love of children was never-ending.
Lorrie was married to the late Clifton E. Mack, Sr., who
preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: two nieces, Jeannette
(Lamont) Raleigh, NC and Beryl Smart, Forestville, MD; one
grandniece, Ebony Neville (Michael) Bowie, MD; two grand-
nephews, Jamil Smart, Bowie, MD and Anthony Goins, Raleigh,
NC; one great-grandnephew; three Godsons, Al Crawford,
Derick Crawford, and Cedric Carr; a lifelong friend, Sadie
Crawford; and a host of cousins and dear, dear friends
