Lonnie Richard McDonald, Jr, 51, Rockingham passed on Tuesday, February 7, 2023.  A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Ricky will be held by graveside at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Northam Cemetery, Northam Cemetery Road, Rockingham, NC, friends and family are kindly invited to attend. Public viewing will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023, 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 1021 E. Washington Street, Rockingham, NC.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Nelson Funeral Home, 1021 E. Washington Street, Rockingham, NC  28379.

Lonnie Richard "Ricky" McDonald, Jr. of Rockingham was born on May 8, 1971, and died unexpectedly in his home at the age of 51 on February 7, 2023.  He is the son of the late Lonnie Richard McDonald, Sr. and Edna "Libby" McDonald of Rockingham.  The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden passing.

Ricky is survived and missed by his loving wife Angela McDonald of 22 wonderful years and will be forever cherished and remembered by his children, Nicholas, Christian, Phillip, Felicia, and Hannah along with his four grandkids, Leah, Zemari, Zayden, and Zanovia.  His memory lives on with his siblings and their families, Shawn (RT), Dave (Kari), Victor (Emily) and his many nieces and nephews along with his favorite aunt Donna G. Huntley and his mother-in-law Ruth Covington who loved him dearly.

Ricky was proceeded in death by his father, Lonnie Richard McDonald, Sr. 

Ricky had many professions throughout his life.  You could truly say he was a master of many trades. For over the past 20 years he has been the owner of Southern Fencing and Carpentry.  Ricky was never scared to take on new opportunities and did everything with honesty and integrity.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his many friends and loved ones.

When Ricky wasn't working, he was living his life to the fullest.  Family and Friends were very important to him and spending time and making memories was what he was all about.  Ricky loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and long rides on his motorcycle.  He had a heart for music and enjoyed listening to it around the house and playing it on his guitar.  He was the master chef of the grill for all cookouts and always had fun shooting pool with his buddies.

There are no words that can be expressed on how grateful and blessed we are for our family, friends and community.  We appreciate all the love and financial support that has been shown during this difficult time.
