Leonard Wilbert Hawkins, Sr. departed this life on January
31, 2021 peacefully in his sleep. He was born November 10,
1941 to the late Fannie Mae Hawkins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Fannie Mae
Hawkins, a brother, James Covington and a special sister,
Sandra Mitchell.
Leonard retired from Burlington Industries in Rockingham,
North Carolina.
Leonard leaves to cherish fond memories: his beautiful
wife, Dorothy Hawkins; two sons, Leonard Warren
Jennings (Michelle) of Hamlet, NC and Leonard Hawkins,
Jr. (LaKetta) of Gibsonville, NC; one daughter, Dr. Yolanda
Michelle VanRiel (Antonio) of West End, NC; three
granddaughters, Brittany Wall of Palm Desert, CA, Morgan
Hicks (Carnell) of San Antonio, TX and Jameesia Hawkins
of Charlotte, NC; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Patterson
(Kenny) of Charlotte, NC and Eugenia Baker of Beaufort,
SC; two brothers-in-law, Grady Griffin (Paula) of Charlotte,
NC and John Griffin, Sr. (Lecie) of Newport News, VA; and
