Obituary

Lacy Lee "Jim" Covington, was born March 10, 1955 to Edna and Johnnie Covington.  He passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 5, 2020 from Richmond county Hospice Haven.

Lacey began his education at Leak Street High School in Rockingham and went on to graduate with his High School Diploma from Richmond Senior High School in May, 1974.

Lacey had multiple jobs as a mill worker throughout the years until becoming disabled.  He loved children and he loved his music.

Lacey was preceded in death by:  his mother, Edna Covington; his father, Johnnie Covington; sister, Joyce Blue, Reverend Betty Terry and Diana Ingram; and his brother, John Covington.

He is remembered with love by his children, Aisha Gibson, Romaro Covington, Maceo Spencer (Audrey), Marcus Spencer (Krystle), Teneka Steed, Sophia Steed, Nakena Chandler, Tracy Chandler (Jennifer), Lacy Covington, Tasha Covington; his thirty-two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Covington (Sherrilynn), David Covington, James Covington (Twowallima); sisters, Sharon Harris (Bill), Edna Wall, Hazel Simmons (Avery K); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
