On behalf of The Nelson Funeral Service Family, Management and Staff we offer our sincerest condolences to the family of one of our very own, Mr. James Thomas "Tom" Bennett, Jr.  The face of our Lead Family Car that transported many family members to and from funeral services in Richmond and surrounding counties.  Tom was a face everyone looked for when Nelson Funeral Service showed up for funerals, as his comical and witty, yet professional ways comforted the families and made him extremely memorable.  Our hearts are heavy as we here at Nelson Funeral Service share in mourning the loss and grieving process with The Bennett Family, for our beloved family, friend and co-worker.

James Thomas Bennett, Jr. (Tom) 59, Hamlet, NC passed on Monday, February 9, 2026. Funeral will be held at 1pm on Friday, February 13, 2026, at New Bethel AME Zion Church, 100 Bethel Church Road, Hamlet, NC  28345.

Public viewing Thursday, February 12, 2026, 12pm until 6pm at Nelson Funeral Home, 1021 E. Washington Street, Rockingham, NC  28379.
