On Thursday, June 3, 2021, Family and Friends celebrated the life of Henry L. Medlin, Jr., as he boarded the early morning train to his heavenly home on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital,  Pinehurst, North Carolina, Henry closed his eyes for the final time on earth and was met by his parents, Henry Sr. and Sallie Mae Medlin, his brothers, William "Buster", Joseph Wayne, Lonnie D. Medlin; and his sisters, Jerlene "Jerry" Ingram and Eula "Tom" McDonald.

Henry was born on December 7, 1934 in Richmond County, North Carolina to the late Henry Sr. and Sallie Mae Medlin.  He was educated in the Richmond County Public School System and in 1953 graduated from Capital Highway High School.  After completing High School,  Henry enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country.  Knowing this day would surely come, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where he remained a good and faithful servant until his death.  As Henry loved humming and singing gospel songs, he joined and sang his best on the Adult, Men's and Mass Choirs at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.  For the past 49 years and until his death, he served on the Trustee Board, holding the position of Financial Secretary. 

Henry worked as a Carman for CSX Transportation before he retired with 30 plus years of faithful service.  Henry was active in the community where he was a member of the Community Men's Choir for 25 plus years and served as Reunion Treasurer for Capital Highway-Monroe Avenue School Reunion.  He was also one of the founding members of the East Hamlet Community Concerned Citizens Building.

Henry was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Elaine Jackson for 62 years.  He is survived by six children:  Henry Louis (Doug) of Long Beach, CA, Harold Lynn (Vermell) of Hamlet, NC, Maggie of Hamlet, NC, Samantha of Charlotte, NC, Howard Lawrence (Talesha) Charlotte, NC and James "Cliff" Smith of Monroe, NC; one sister, Myrtle M. Cox of Hamlet, NC  two sisters-in-law, Alice Medlin (late Lonnie D.) of Hamlet, NC and Ida Medlin(late Joseph Wayne); one brother-in-law, Eddie Wayne Jackson (Thomasina) Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Dana, Dionna (Reginald), Shayla, Luther, Tionna, Ava, Cameron; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Cayden, Madison, Landon, Harmony and Lucas; nieces and nephews, Sallie "Faye" (Sunny), James "Ronald" (Connie), Cynthia "Baye", Yvetta "Gaye",, Deborah, Denise, Darnetta, Swazette, Maurice (late Otis, Jr.); and a host of other relatives and friends.
