Ms. Goldie McQueen Chambers, 94, Rockingham, passed Monday, April 12, 2021.  Funeral will be 2pm, Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Tabernacle of Faith 101 Pine Street, Hamlet, NC. Public Viewing Saturday, April 17, 2021 12-5pm at Nelson Funeral Home, 1021 E. Washington St. Rockingham, NC.

Obituary

Goldie was a wonderful wife and mother that was  loved, is missed, and will always be cherished.  "Gold", as she liked to be called by her family and friends, was an amazing warrior for Christ.  Goldie loved to read the Bible.  She enjoyed writing affirmations, poetry, working in the yard, and listening to Mahalia Jackson.  She was a devoted Christian and ensured that each person she encountered understood the pathway to salvation. 

Goldie passed away at home surrounded by her family on Monday, April 12, 2021; she was 94 years old.  Goldie was born in Patrick, South Carolina on December 20, 1926 to Edith Johnson and Henry McQueen.  Mr. George Chambers met and married Miss Goldie McQueen on December 31, 1946 and to this Holy bond, she had eleven children.

Preceding her in death were her husband, George Chambers and her son, Ronald Chambers. 

Surviving to cherish her precious memories are:  ten children, Edith Ward, George H. Chambers (Lorene), Gwendolyn Collins, Wanda Hair (Abram), Edwina K. Chambers, Paulette Terry (James) of Ellerbe, North Carolina, Anthony Chambers (Genie), Ralph W. Chambers, Patricia Chambers and Everette Chambers (Charlotte) of New York; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
