George Oliver Johnson III, 62, Rockingham passed on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.  Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Christ's Way Community Church, 15767 Hwy 15-501 South, Aberdeen, NC.  Public Viewing Tuesday, December 19, 2023, 12:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Nelson Funeral Home, 1021 E. Washington Street Rockingham, NC  28379. The family will receive friends and visitors at 828 Chatham Road, Rockingham, NC  28379.  Nelson Funeral Service is serving the family.

Today we celebrate the life of George Oliver Johnson III who

was born on July 7, 1961 in Pinehurst, North Carolina to the late

George Oliver Johnson II and Maggie Mae Johnson. George Oliver

Johnson III (Boo) transitioned from his earthly life on 

December 13, 2023.

After graduating from Pinecrest High School, he went into the

armed services. He traveled to many countries while serving.

George had a personality that drew many people; he loved

people. In his final years, he moved in with his mom during her

failing health to take care of her. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy

fan and could always be caught watching cowboy movies or

wrestling.

During his lifetime, George had a deep respect for God.

George was preceded in death by his parents, George Oliver

Johnson II and Maggie Mae Johsnon and his son, Michael Allen.

George leaves to cherish loving memories: his long time

companion, Maggie L. Chambers of the home; son, George Oliver

Johnson IV (Shekendra); three daughters, Tyonna Johnson,

Kujuan Curry (Brandon), and Britney Johnson; sisters, Janice

Belcher, Inga McMillan, Wilma Hooker (Curt), Arnitha Patterson

(Gary); a brother, Seymour Johnson (Deborah); one aunt,

Elizabeth Stubbs; two uncles, Charles and Joe Johnson; a special

mother on earth, Rosa Chapel; and a host of grandchildren,

great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
