Mrs. Frances E. Smith,73
Frances Smith was born June 10, 1947 in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania. She was the first of four children born to the late
Gladys and Herman C. Smith. Frances was educated in the
Philadelphia School system but later went back and finished her
education as she received her GED thru Community College of
Pennsylvania. She then continued and received her Associates
Degree through Community College of Pennsylvania.
Frances was first employed with the City of Philadelphia system as
a School crossing guard. Then she moved on and finish her years
with the City as a Payroll Clerk with the Streets Dept, where she
retired.
Frances was the widower of John Timothy Williams. Frances leaves
four children: Fontel Smith, Darnel Smith, Iesha Smith-Bell and
Tauras Smith; one brother, Ellis Smith; twelve grandchildren; one
great-grandchild; one aunt, Theresa Griffin and a host of nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends.
Frances loved card games with the family on the weekend, family
gatherings, reunions, enjoyed going to the Casino in Atlantic City, go
shopping at Target and Kohls’s on the weekend with good friend
Alicia and loved visiting her grandchildren.
Frances was full of life and loved her family. She was definitely a
sweetheart, but she was also a firecracker when she needed to be.
She was loving, caring and honest. Frances was a true mother, sister,
aunt, cousin and friend. She loved each of her children and
grandchildren unconditionally.
Frances battled many illnesses, but she did not let it bring her down.
She was determined to live and be there for her family. Frances
fought with all she had every day. Her last year of life she moved in
with her daughter and family in North Carolina to just relax and
enjoy life. That she did! She loved waking up to the sunshine
through her window and watching Westerns. Sitting on the porch to
loving the country air. She missed her home in Philly but she was Happy!
