Dorothy Ruth Bagley, 81, Hamlet, NC passed on Saturday, April 6, 2024.  Funeral will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, April 13, 2024, in the Chapel at Nelson Funeral Home, 1021 E. Washington Street, Rockingham, NC  28379 with a viewing from 1:00pm until 2:00pm prior to the service where the family will be present.  The family will receive friends and visitors at 111 Horseshoe Drive, Hamlet, NC  28345.  Nelson Funeral Service is serving the family.

Dorothy Ruth Witherspoon Bagley, 81, of Hamlet peacefully transitioned

into the presence of the Lord on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Hospice Haven

in Rockingham, NC. She was born on November 23, 1942 in Scotland

County to the late Thomas Calvin Witherspoon and Hettie Ruth Bennett

Witherspoon.

Dorothy affectionately known as “Dot” was a cherished wife, mother,

grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend whose presence touched the

lives of all who knew her. She will be remembered especially for the love

of her family. Dot was an incredible cook and baker. Whenever you came

to visit she always had a delicious meal prepared and she made the best

cakes and pies. Dot opened her home to many. She was an adult foster

care provider in Barnegat, NJ and Stanley was one of her charges that

became like family. Dot enjoyed traveling and all the entertainment that

Atlantic City had to offer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,

Alonzo Bagley Jr.; sons, Bryant Bagley, Steven Bagley; daughter, Hazel

Brooks; sisters, Mae Jamison, Ruth Brooks, Earline Ellis; brothers-in-law,

Frank Jamison Sr., Claude Brooks, Arthur Ellis; and nephew Anton Ellis.

Those left to cherish her memories are her brothers-in-law, Ronald Bagley,

Carl Caronia; daughters, Charlotte Bagley Bennett (Christopher), Annette

Bagley, Evelyn Bagley; nephews, Frank Jamison (Mary), Greg Jamison,

(Sheila), Derrick Brooks; nieces, Val Jamison, Niecy Brooks, April White

(Leonard); niece/goddaughter Sheron Allen (Reinaldo); special

granddaughter, Mercedeez Hulbirt (Corey); 13 other grandchildren; 14

great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other

loving relatives and friends.
