Darrell Eugene Strickland, 66, Rockingham, NC passed on Sunday, February 9, 2025.  

Obituary

Darrell Eugene “Squeaky” Strickland was called home by the Great Spirit on February 9, 2025, where he will now watch over us in peace. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Strickland; his loving mother, Nellie Ruth Smith; and his stepfather, Harvey Strickland.

Squeaky had a magnetic personality. He was the man every guy wanted to hang out with, and every lady wanted to get to know. Squeaky was widely known for his tough reputation, but he had a softer side that he saved to share with those who meant the most to him. He loved to hit the road on his Harley. He was a prankster at times. He cared about manners. And there were times when he took groceries to people in need when he did not have groceries to give. You always knew exactly where you stood with Squeaky. And if you were his friend, you walked a little taller when you were with him because you knew you were with the baddest dude in the room.

Squeaky is survived by his children: Eric (Cindy) Green, Darrell (Brandy) Parker, Heather (Steven) McAllister, Dustin (Alex) Strickland, and Candy Rumbold (who was like a daughter); Twelve grandchildren: Craig, Dalton, Kelsey, Destiny, Caleb, Jackson, Ava, Willie, Willow, Ryker, Lola, Arlo; one great grandchild, Deacon; his brother, Prentice (Karen) Strickland, and his sister, Peggy Sue; a special cousin, Harold (Uncle Boo) Smith; a special nephew, PJ Strickland; as well as many loved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Wallace, SC on March 8, 2025, at 2:00PM.
