Corey Shane Dorsey

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Corey Shane Dorsey on May 14, of 2026 at the age of 41. Corey was born May 30, 1984, in Gastonia, NC to Cheryl Dorsey and the late John Bruce. He attended Richmond County Schools and lived the majority of his life in Cordova, NC. Corey had a beautiful sense of humor. He could find the funny in almost any situation. He was a gifted storyteller. Your face would hurt from smiling and you would be doubled over struggling to breathe from laughter. His eyes twinkled with mischief. He was passionate about the people he loved. He had a big loving heart and will be missed greatly by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his dad Jimmy Dean Adams and grandparents Carolyn and Fairly Dawkins. Corey is survived by his children Jaden Richardson of Leland, Kylee Witwer and Brody Dorsey of Rockingham, brothers Travis Dorsey of Belmont and Travis Witwer of Cordova, sister Jamie Robinson of Rockingham, and parents Cheryl Witwer of Belmont and Jim Witwer of Cordova. Along with many nieces and nephews all of Richmond County. Memorial Services will be held at The Place of Grace Church (Place of Grace Campus), Saturday, June 6 at 2pm. The family will receive friends and visitors at 180 Center St Cordova, Friday from 7-9 pm to reminisce and celebrate the life of Corey Shane Dorsey.
